![]() Introduction: Challenges for the Investigation of the Human Auditory CortexĪ major scientific approach in brain research has been to divide the cortex into smaller anatomical areas based on their micro-structural properties ( Brodmann, 1909 Zilles and Amunts, 2009 Nieuwenhuys, 2012) and examine each area's functional properties through the analysis of the responses of neurons and neuronal populations. We propose and discuss a topography of areas that is consistent with old and recent anatomical post-mortem characterizations of the human auditory cortex and that may serve as a working model for neuroscience studies of auditory functions. Furthermore, we show that considering multiple maps indicative of anatomical (i.e., myelination) as well as of functional properties (e.g., broadness of frequency tuning) is helpful in identifying auditory cortical areas in individual human brains. Importantly, we illustrate that-whereas a group-based approach to analyze functional (tonotopic) maps is appropriate to highlight the main tonotopic axis-the examination of tonotopic maps at single subject level is required to detail the topography of primary and non-primary areas that may be more variable across subjects. Here, we propose a topography of the human auditory areas based on insights on the anatomical and functional properties of human auditory areas as revealed by studies of cyto- and myelo-architecture and fMRI investigations at ultra-high magnetic field (7 Tesla). ![]() While advances in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) throughout the last decades have enabled the detailed anatomical and functional inspection of the human brain non-invasively, to date there is no consensus regarding the precise subdivision and topography of the areas forming the human auditory cortex. 3Department of Radiology, Center for Magnetic Resonance Research, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, USA.2Maastricht Brain Imaging Center, Maastricht University, Maastricht, Netherlands. ![]() 1Department of Cognitive Neuroscience, Faculty of Psychology and Neuroscience, Maastricht University, Maastricht, Netherlands.Michelle Moerel 1,2,3, Federico De Martino 1,2 and Elia Formisano 1,2 * ![]()

![]() ![]() If you find yourself suspecting that there's truly no one online for you, that emotional fatigue can make it hard to feel optimistic, which will make online dating feel like even more of a pain.ĪBC / via Giphy 4. When you're only getting messages from people like "hey ur pretty wanna c my dick lol," it's easy to get discouraged. But logic often pales in comparison to real-world experience. Statistically impossible, given the number of human beings on this planet. Everyone you talk to online reinforces the idea that "all the good ones are taken." But online dating isn't for everyone! Maybe deep down you don't want a relationship, or maybe you'd rather meet someone offline. Those feelings of obligation may come from friends and family who are eager for you to settle down, or maybe they're even self-imposed because you feel like you aren't doing enough IRL to meet someone. ![]() In that you're not doing it because it's genuinely enjoyable, but because of the nagging sense of guilt you'd feel if you didn't. Online dating feels like another thing on your to-do list. That's why an online-dating breather can be exactly what you need to remember that even though it's natural to want a relationship, you are 100 percent enough on your own. But getting invested in each potential match will only wind up hurting you in the end. Tons of people want relationships, so there's nothing wrong with that. But if you feel despondent every single time a person you shared some witty banter with disappears into the Internet ether, it could be a sign that online dating is doing you more harm than good. A little bit of pouncing on your phone when you think they might have messaged you back is totally warranted. It's normal to feel giddy when you come across someone who really seems to have potential. You feel a crushing sense of disappointment if someone doesn't respond to you. Here, 10 signs you may want to take a break from online dating for the sake of your own sanity. But you're only human, and the truth is that online dating can wear down even the strongest of wills. And yeah, that's probably true! That's why if you're looking for someone, online dating is a strategic, smart move, not something to be ashamed of. But like everyone I know has met someone amazing online, you might think to yourself. But for many people, there comes a time when the prospect of swiping even one more time loses its luster. OK, so maybe the high of adopting such a technologically advanced way of finding love sticks around for a little longer than that. When you're really tired of being single, online dating is fun for approximately a day and a half. ![]() ![]() ![]() Muddle the strawberries until they’re completely broken down and most of the juice has been squeezed out of them. (Macerating strawberries draws out the juices and makes them easier to muddle, and brings out more of the strawberry flavor!)Īfter 10-15 minutes, transfer the strawberries and any juice from the bowl to a cocktail shaker. Let them rest in the bowl for 10-15 minutes, until some juice starts to accumulate in the bottom of the bowl. Sprinkle with 2 teaspoons granulated sugar, and stir the strawberries until all slices are coated in sugar. Slice the strawberries (about 4-5 slices per berry), and place them in a small bowl. Remove the leafy green tops from the strawberries. If you can’t find agave syrup, simple syrup will work! How to Make a Fresh Strawberry Margarita on the Rocks Honestly, the stuff you’ll find in the States that’s labeled as “syrup” or “nectar” is the same product. Is agave syrup the same as agave nectar? Yes. Naranja is less expensive, and it is a great triple sec to use in margaritas! If you’re feeling REALLY fancy, you can certainly purchase Grand Marnier, but just be aware that Grand Mariner is a blend of triple sec and cognac, so it is sweeter and a bit denser than other triple sec options. If you’re looking to keep a good triple sec on your bar cart, I recommend Cointreau (from France) or Naranja (from Mexico). Most of us buy the cheap stuff that’s found on the bottom shelf at most liquor stores (I go between Juarez and DeKuyper), and it works just fine in margaritas. What is triple sec? Triple sec is an orange liqueur. If you have a margarita mix that you’ve used before and you LOVE, you can certainly give it a shot! However, the flavor isn’t even comparable to fresh lime juice. Sour mix (store-bought sour mix, specifically), is made of lemon, lime, and sugar. Lime juice is not interchangeable with sour mix if you want the same flavor fresh lime juice makes this margarita great. I recommend avoiding anejo tequila, as it has a strong flavor that doesn’t work well in this strawberry margarita recipe.Ĭan I use sour mix or margarita mix instead of lime juice? I’d rather you didn’t. The type of tequila matters, and I would stick with silver tequila (blanco tequila) or reposado tequila. Silver tequila will have a cleaner taste, and reposado tequila will have a touch of earthiness and character. What’s the difference between tequila blanco and reposado tequila? Reposado tequila is briefly aged in barrels, which makes it a light brown color. Agave Syrup (also called “agave nectar”)Ĭan I use frozen strawberries? No, they won’t thaw in time to create the juices necessary for this margarita. (makes 2 fresh strawberry margaritas on the rocks) These are standard, simple ingredients that make a great classic margarita if you leave out the strawberries, too. This recipe makes two margaritas and takes 15 total minutes to make, including a resting period for the strawberries so they are extra juicy before being muddled. This is a straight-forward margarita on the rocks with macerated strawberries, and once the strawberries are ready, the margaritas come together in no time. There are a lot of frozen strawberry margarita recipes out there, but we needed a strawberry margarita recipe on the rocks! ( “On the rocks” means served over ice.) I tested this recipe quite a few times with a lot of different ingredients … but I really wanted to create a strawberry margarita recipe that didn’t require a bunch of steps, a special syrup, or any obscure ingredients. A fresh strawberry margarita made with ripe strawberries, tequila of your choice, fresh lime juice, fresh orange juice, triple sec, and agave syrup. ![]() ![]() ![]() If yes, then please share the article or subscribe to our newsletter. Plastic cover strip is one of our most popular profiles and is manufactured from PVC in packs of 75 metres. Plastic cover strip could cover unsightly, damaged or uneven edges to make it neater. Once the thickness increases this profile is sometimes referred to a plastic bar. However, the meaning of ‘thin’ is subjective and can mean different things to different people.
